The ReinCar team conducting a drone flight

High in the Norwegian mountains Geodime have been supporting research expeditions into exciting new areas of ecology.

In 2018 and again in 2019 Geodime provided a UAV, pilot, and multispectral sensor for the ReinCar project to support their research into reindeer carcass ecology.

Our Ecology Lead Alex Briggs spent several weeks hiking across Hardangervidda, one of the largest mountain plateaus in Europe, with an expedition team studying the ecological impacts of mass die-offs of wild reindeer on the local biodiversity. This included using multispectral imagery to study the impacts on vegetation by analysing the spectral signature of plants which changes according to stress. This is really exciting research, and it will be fascinating to see the results that ReinCar find.
